Finance Commissioner Pledges Commitment Toward Administration’s Agenda

The State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akan Okon has reaffirmed his readiness to work for the realisation of the lofty goals and objectives of Governor Udom-led administration for the State.
Mr. Akan Okon was speaking while fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the grand reception in his honor, at Government Primary School, Mbiatok-Itam, in Itu LGA in respect of his swearing-in to office.


The Commissioner who noted that the focal point of the present administration which is industrialization is geared towards wealth creation, and employment generation, expressed confidence in the crop of human resources in the team whom he said possess capacities to articulate the vision to reality.
On the current economic crunch in the country arising from the fall in oil price, the Commissioner harped on the need for States to look inward by fashioning out ways to shore-up their internal revenue, so as to meet up their financial obligations to the people. He said Akwa Ibom on her part would deploy appropriate framework in the revenue sector to ensure accountability of all accruals to the State, as well as application of efficiency in expenditure.
Earlier, while addressing the mammoth crowd that graced the event, Mr. Akan Okon who was flanked by his wife Queen, expressed appreciation to his people for speaking with one voice during the last election and reassured that the State Governor is working assiduously to deliver his campaign promises to the people.
He solicited their continuous loyalty and support while also unfolding the industrialization blueprint for the area, top of which he said was the proposed Bus Assembly plant at Ikot Ukap, Ekim and Obong Itam by an Israeli company with the groundbreaking ceremony billed for Monday, July 13 and to be performed by Governor Udom Emmanuel.
